A marca de lingerie que só escolhe modelos com grandes histórias de vida

The Underargument recruta as mulheres para as campanhas fotográficas sem nunca ter visto os seus corpos.

Quando pensa em marcas de lingerie, certamente imagina os outdoors e os anúncios televisivos a que as marcas nos habituaram. Modelos com corpos perfeitos, que vestem peças que parecem terem sido desenhadas em Photoshop. 

Porém, nos últimos anos uma mudança de paradigma tem surgido e a expressão “mulher real” nunca foi tantas vezes repetida. Exemplo disso mesmo é a marca inglesa The Underargument, que escolhe as suas modelos fotográficas sem nunca as ter visto.

Some people think that anorexia can be cured just by forcing yourself to eat. These are the same people who said I thought I was "fat". Tudo começou em 2018. Três anos depois da francesa Maïna Cissé ter fundado a marca de lingerie, introduziu um novo método para encontrar modelos ao qual chamou de “anticasting”. Cissé abriu um casting online e pediu que as interessadas em vez de serem fotografadas com as peças da marca, submetessem um texto com as suas histórias de vida — e sem fotografias.

A medida revolucionária pretendia quebrar os estereótipos de um mercado que aposta quase sempre em mulheres magras, caucasianas e fotografadas em poses sexy. A fundadora quis lançar uma mensagem bem clara: “És mais do que um corpo, e a tua história tem valor”, referiu ao jornal inglês “Guardian”.

O resultado da sessão foi incrível. “Todas parecem diferentes, mas estão todas espetaculares. Nunca tínhamos conhecido nenhuma delas, mas nunca tivemos uma sessão má.”

Atualmente, com o método ainda em prática, a marca recebe cerca de 50 submissões por semana e realiza uma sessão a cada quatro ou seis semanas. O próprio método também ajudou a desenvolver esta etiqueta de roupa interior. “Comecei com dez tamanhos de sutiãs, e agora tenho mais de 40.”

“As peças de roupa interior ganham vida através da coleção, mas também através das histórias destas mulheres que se colocaram numa posição vulnerável para partilhar a sua experiência de vida”, explicou a criadora ao jornal inglês “Metro”, em julho deste ano. As histórias estão num separador próprio no site da marca.

Naomi é uma das interlocutoras. Na sua história pessoal fala de uma relação particularmente abusiva, tanto física como psicologicamente. Aborda as relações sexuais não consentidas num casal e deixa algumas perguntas às leitoras no final. Já Mary e Lily partilham a sua história de poliamor, contada por cada uma.

A coleção de verão, lançada no mês passado, tem Mary e Lily como modelos. A linha aposta nas transparências, com os soutiens em formato triangular e cueca oversize.

A nova coleção tem preços que vão das 44 libras esterlinas (48,70€) às 75 libras (83€). A marca vende para toda a Europa, e os portes variam consoante o volume da encomenda, porém, se gastar mais de 150 libras (cerca de 166€) os portes são grátis.

It’s true that in most situations in life, I feel the need to take the lead, and want things to be done my way. It was the cause of much conflict in my marriage.
